Xiaomi Mi Cube – No Buttons, just Gravity Response but is it enough?

First, talking about the appearance which by the name suggest is a simple cube. To be specific it’s a tiny polaroid cube (45mm x 45mm x 45mm), a near perfect 5 cm device which weighs 73g, only. It is available in three beautiful and light colors: White, Blue, and Pink. On one side, is the Micro-USB port situated to recharge the battery.

Xiaomi Mi Cube doesn’t have any buttons so you would be wondering that how does it work? Well, the working is simple. It integrates some gravity turn sensors (gyroscopes)working on 6 different kinds of controls/motions like shake, 90-degree flip, 180-degree flip, double knock, Rotate, and Nudge. For each action, a specific function is programmed (turn on or off) for each device.

The product is priced at $13 (increased from $10) at the official site of Xiaomi. As far as international Chinese stores are concerned Aliexpress seller is selling it (Zigbee version) between a price range of $17.99 – 47.69 (with or without Gateway 2). He says that it is  only working via Gateway 2.
