Oukitel K6000 Pro Review

Oukitel K6000 Pro Display 1

e have seen what Oukitel is capable of? The Chinese manufacturer is proficient of producing terminals with some serious features for a stupendous price tag. Same is the case with their closing smartphone of the previous year, Oukitel K6000. But it lacked something: a fingerprint reader, Full-HD display, latest Android or anything that makes the terminal worth to be called a mid-tier phone of 2016. But the question remains, what can you get for a price of $180? Well in the case of Oukitel, everything! Some features were missed in Oukitel K6000, so in order to make it compete with the latest mid-end phones of 2016, Oukitel released their latest smartphone known as Oukitel K6000 Pro – a younger brother of K6000 but for the same price.

What’s in the Box?

The phone is well fitted inside an orange box along with these accessories:
  • Silicone Back Cover
  • Screen protector
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Power plug (varies throughout region)
  • USB data cable
  • OTG cable
  • User manual (Quick start guide)

Design and Appearance :

Indeed, the best and the rare design for a mid-end phone is that of Oukitel K6000 Pro. The 5.5 inches wide, 2.5D display and to double the premium impression, a metal touch is given to the whole phone. It feels very heavy (215 g) and why not? This monster has dimensions(15.43 x 7.67 x 0.98 cm) and is composed of only metal no plastic. So in hands, it gives us a very gratifying taste with some extra weight. In addition, the craftsmanship is also worth of praising with no gaps found and the buttons are firmly seated in the housing.

Talking about the button placement, the volume bar, and the power button are embedded on the right side the phone with a firm pressure point. On the other side is the SD / SIM slot which is hybrid. This limits us with the option of added either two SIMs (Micro) or an SIM and a Micro-SD card. Obviously, it’s one of the cons of Oukitel K6000 Pro.

Now speaking of the three touch-based buttons which are present at the below the screen, however, are not illuminated. A few phones have this type of rare configuration of buttons with no home button present at the mid. Meanwhile, above the screen is the earpiece, front camera and brightness as the proximity sensor. Sadly, LED notification is absent here. At the bottom of the phone is the Micro-USB port along with a microphone. On the other side is the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Another exciting aspect which surprises us in this budget category is that Oukitel K6000 Pro is IP64 certified, which means that it is dust and splash proof.

Screen and Display:

As already mentioned, the size of the screen is 5.5-inch along with a Full-HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) and pixel density of 401 ppi. Due to the IPS display, we have a great viewing angle of nearly 107° and the brightness is mediocre, but could certainly be improved more. Apart from this, the phone has a feature called HotKnot through which displays of two devices can be shared. 5-point touchscreen and Gorilla Glass Protection are also some of the extra aspects of the phone.

Hardware and Performance :

To be honest with our readers, the hardware of the phone is average. It is optimized for a mediocre performance along with maximum power saving. That’s why instead of Helio P10, Helio X10 or any Snapdragon we find is the MediaTek MT6753 clocked at 8 × 1.3 GHz as the heart of the phone. But that’s fair for a phone with a price below $200. Isn’t it? However, the performance can deviate at the time of need with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM. If you want to increase some space than the option of adding 64 GB via Micro-SD card is always there.

Operation systeme:

It’s sometimes rare to see a mid-tier Chinese smartphone with the latest Android version running on it. Well, this rarity is found in Oukitel K6000 Pro as it features Android Marshmallow (v6.0). It’s almost the same Android v6.0 like the original with somecustomization done by the company. A complete renovation is done with the Launcher and some partial changes to the system. The design of the icons can be customized using the theme app (two themes already preinstalled). To make the system be stable for endless time and run efficiently, no pre-installed apps are there.

A negative point with the OS is the browser that is slightly slow and some authentication problems. But there’s a solution for this which is another alternative browser like Chrome and Firefox. The whole Android is translated into English and other languages but unfortunately points as the gesture control are not available in German.

The fingerprint sensor works quite well in most cases, the finger will be directly detected with any angle. However, we see a delay in the reaction time. It sometimes takes just 2 seconds to unlock a phone. C’mon, the delay is only 2 secs and it won’t ruin your time.

To sum up, the operating system of Oukitel K6000 Pro is fast, stable and up to date via OTA updates.

Camera :

It is worth mentioning that the front and the rear cameras are 5MP and 13 MP, respectively. The image quality can be increased to 8 MP and 16 MP (interpolated) through image rendering software. Therefore, the image quality is really pleasing with excellent colors and saturated pictures. Even the dual-tone LED flash is added to overcome the low light aspect.

As far as video recording is concerned, Oukitel can record a 1080p video from the rear camera while 480p with the front one. You can switch easily from image capturing mode to video capturing but sadly, no resolution setting mentioned there.

Battery:

Speaking of the selling point and for what Oukitel is recognized, Oukitel K6000 Pro is powered with a massive 6,000 mAh battery. It is surprising that the phone has a battery life of nearly 3 days with normal use and with light use for 4 days. With the prolong exposure of the phone the battery ends in 16.5 hours. Probably, the credit here goes to the low-end processor but we couldn’t believe that even with the processor the phone continues to run for 3 days with a Full-HD screen and 3 GB RAM. Seriously, it’s remarkable. Even to charge these extra milliamperes Quick Charge is always ready.
