Design and Build quality:
DAYSKY L7 is built out of quality plastic and aluminum alloy. It looks gorgeous in every color combination whether it’s white, golden or black. With its mass of 1.320kg, it’s not the lightest on the market, but it is unbelievable thin (only 2.5 cm) and mobile. You can put it in your backpack and carry it wherever you may roam. Aside from that that it looks astonishing while it’s folded because it is even more beautiful when it’s opened. On the back cover, there is a company logo that resembles a little extraterrestrial from cartoons or a black bow tie on a white base.
DAYSKY L7 Display:
The device has a 14.1-Inch display with the resolution of 1366×768 and 16:9 ratio. It has good contrast, viewing angles and colors are pretty vivid. Considering its size, it has a solid pixel density, and it is very comfortable for browsing and multimedia. The good thing is that the device offers a mini VGA port so you can connect it to an external monitor and use it for whatever you want on a bigger screen. As with many other notebooks and laptops the display is quite delicate. Handle it with care while closing the device and always put screen protection cloth in between the keyboard and the screen.
Processor and CPU
DAYSKY L7 may come in a portable package, but its specifications are the real deal. It sports Intel Celeron Dual-Core CPU clocked at 2.4GHz. The chipset is made in 22nm technology, and it has 1MB o cash. Graphics card of the notebook is integrated, but it is fairly good Intel’s HD Graphics GPU.
The device has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, which is plenty for everyday tasks. In our testing scenarios, the notebook performed well on a bunch of things. We were browsing the web, watching FULL HD movies, streaming YouTube, even playing some less demanding games with no hassle. This notebook is simply too weak for some challenging 3D games or programs for image and video editing. Everything else will work like a charm.
Camera:
DAYSKY L7 is equipped with 0.3-Megapixel camera sensor for video conversations. The resolution is pretty limited, but you can always buy an extra web camera for these sort of things.
Storage Capacity:
Another amazing thing about the DAYSKY L7 laptop is its storage capacity. It offers 500GB HDD as well as 32GB SSD out of the box. SSD is blazingly fast, and it is ideal for a system partition and installing some apps. 500GB HDD is here for everything else, and you can store your entire media library, all your pictures, and movies on this small device.
Operating System (OS):
When it comes to the OS of the notebook, we have a good and a bad thing to share with you. The thing is, DAYSKY L7 is shipping with DOS only and without any major operating system. This fact is bad for people who are not that great with computers and technology. For everyone else, that can be a good thing because you can install any operating system that you desire. The most logical step would be to install Windows 7, 8 or 10 on it, but if you are short on cash, we suggest you to install some of the Linux distributions. W
e have installed the latest Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus, and we can tell you that it performed extremely well. It is very fast, and it offers the basic software for all your needs. The most important thing about it is that it’s absolutely free of charge. It is relatively easy to install the OS, but everyone can do it with a little patience and basic knowledge of English.
Connectivity:
DAYSKY L7 has well covered in the connectivity field with its Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, LAN card and USB ports. It can connect to our office router even trough several walls and that is not bad at all. CD reader/writer is not supported, but you can transfer all your media files and boot an OS from a USB flash drive or an external hard drive.
DAYSKY L7 Battery life:
The device is equipped with a 7.4V 3000mAh lithium-ion battery. These numbers are a bit disappointing because even smartphones today offer bigger capacity batteries. On a regular usage, the battery can be depleted in two to three hours. Fortunately, the charger that comes with the notebook is very fast, and it can charge the device in no time.
Our opinion:
DAYSKY L7 is a good device by all standards. Yes, it should have a better battery life, but luckily, the charger is very fast. Lack of the OS out of the box is a big advantage in our book, and we have enjoyed using this device with Ubuntu installed on it. When you consider everything about this device, the only limiting factor can be its price. Fortunately, with all its bells and whistles it is pretty affordable as well.
