AiWATCH C1 review

Smartwatches for sports are a huge trend right now, since accompanying physical activities with a reliable monitoring tool easy to carry (or wear) often produces great results, however, the wearables meant for this kind of activities have specific requirements in functionality and materials as well. Recently, a watch with this features has caught our attention and its name is AiWATCH C1 by Shenzhen, which is a mid-end Smartwatch for sports and physical activities. The AiWATCH C1 features a circular dial and TPU straps with a minimalistic design, the display is a TFT touchscreen of 1.22 inches.

What truly makes the AiWATCH C1 Smartwatch to stand out from the rest of devices are its features, that besides including the usual functions such as pedometer or heal tracker it also supports Siri Voice Control (Only for iOS users), and features smart gesture control. The AiWATCH supports Bluetooth in dual bands, 3.0/4.0. It’s also worth mentioning that this particular Smartwatch is IP67 certified, which means that is completely waterproof; you can wash your hands while you are wearing it or even take it for a swim without risk.

AiWATCH C1 design:

As you can see in the images the body’s design is sporty and minimalistic and has a circular shape, the crown can be found on the right side and that’s the only physical button that you can find on this model. When it comes to size the AiWATCH C1 has the following body dimensions: 9,45 x 1,77 x 0,79 inches and weighs barely 0,044Kg, therefore, this particular Smartwatch is lightweight and not too big like for becoming an inconvenience while practicing sports or exercising.

The straps are made out of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), which is a highly resistant and elastic material that is ideal for sporting goods, footwear, and several other tools. The straps are comfortable and won’t hurt your skin during your physical activities or exercises.

IP67 certified: The AiWATCH C1 is waterproof, you can take a shower or go swimming without removing it.

Last but not least this Smartwatch comes in three different color presentations: silver, gold rose and also cyan (greenish-blue).

AiWATCH C1 display:

When it comes to display, it’s not a surprise to see that the touchscreen is circular as well. It has 1.22 inches of size and supports a resolution of 240*240 pixels, which is average and doesn’t give a too much to talk about. On the screen, you’ll find an ever present “Home” button on the inferior section and nothing else.

It’s also worth mentioning that this watch has six lock screens with different styles and themes, like: Simple and stylish, Commercial and elegant, or sports style, just for highlighting those that we like the most.

AiWATCH C1 Chipset and memory:

The AiWATCH has an MTK2502 SoC (system on a chip) by Mediatek embedded, this particular SoC is commonly featured in low-end and mid-end Smartwatches and delivers a standard performance in our opinion. When it comes to memory, we consider that this aspect is a huge let-down, the basic amount of 64MB of ram isn’t the problem, the problem is that there is only 128MB of Rom for internal storage and can’t be expanded through a micro-SD, so forget about saving anything on this watch.

Features:

The AiWATCH C1 offers the standard features of sporty Smartwatches with a huge plus thanks to the inclusion of Siri and Smart gestures. Nevertheless, this device heavily depends on the use with a smartphone to unlock most of its functionalities.

Smart Gestures:  Perform certain gestures to execute specific actions. For instance, by shaking your wrist the watch shall load the next page; or turn your hand to hang up a call from your phone. Another example is the wake-up gesture, which allows turning on the screen whenever you raise your hand.

Siri Voice control: this is perhaps the best feature supported and basically provides to iOS users the ultimate hands-free experience; once the smartphone has been synchronized with the AiWATCH you can perform actions such as dialing, calling or playing music by using voice commands. We can agree on how useful this while you are on the move or doing your daily activities, Thumbs up for this detail.

Notifications: you can see notifications of the received messages including announcements from the most popular social networks.

Remote control: available for the camera and music playlists.

Pedometer: use your watch to keep the track of your physical activities. There is also a sedentary reminder, sleep monitor, and a professional heart rate monitor.

OS and Software:

The AiWATCH C1 can be linked with smartphones that support iOS 7.0 or Android 4.3 or later versions, and as we stated before, you will need to sync your phone to take advantage of all features.

Connectivity:

The only kind of connectivity featured is Bluetooth in double band, 3.0 and 4.0, which allows the user to connect the watch with a smartphone. In the downside, we consider that it could have been included network support. We’ve seen this feature before even at this price range and that would’ve been awesome.

Battery:

The AiWATCH C1 is powered by a 300 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery that can last up to 100-120 hours in standby mode and only takes up to 3 hours to be fully charged again. In our experience, it can last three days of regular usage, however, the battery’s life always depends on the usage given and the settings used.

Verdict:

We consider that the AiWATCH C1 is a remarkable choice within the wearable market for those who need to keep an eye on their physical activities, exercises or routines; since this Smartwatch has functions heavily focused on people who practice sports. However, if you are not interested in those features then perhaps this is not the best watch for you since it lacks network support and the internal storage is almost inexistent. But the smart gesture and Siri support might end up convincing you.
