MiFone L58 Review

Nowadays, the smartwatch market has started to become more and more affordable, we’re not only limited to mid/high-range devices, now we have the option to sacrifice some features for a lower price. Usually, these devices lack many things but they have a proper quality; the performance won’t be the same as the other ranges but at least it works pretty decently.

A feature that is frequently sacrificed in this kind of smartwatches is the design, this is a big mistake; if you’re planning on selling a low-end product that doesn’t have above average specifications or a nice and attractive design, then you’re going to have a bad time, that product won’t have anything special and hence people won’t be attracted to it.

Today we’ll talk about a low-range smartwatch that has the proper specifications of a low-end but with a beautiful design; we’re talking about the MiFone L58. We could say that its design is its selling point. We’re not overestimating the design, we’re just saying the truth, it’s so classy and so casual, it’s that kind of watch that will adapt to any situation be it a formal dinner, for going out with your friends, or just doing sports.

Design and Materials:

Let’s start with the best feature this smartwatch has; the people in charge of this device are actually really smart, they must have thought: “If we can’t make a smartwatch with amazing specifications, let’s make one that looks amazing” Because we’re talking about a smartwatch but at the end of the day it’s still a watch, that means that the design is also crucial. We also have to keep in mind that we’re still talking about a low-end smartwatch which means that the quality of the materials won’t be excessively high.

The materials are no surprise considering its low price. The smartwatch is built in aluminum 603, a material with an amazing durability and it’s also very resistant to corrosion.

The strap is made out of fluoroelastomer, this is pretty much a synthetic rubber.

Now as for the design itself, the manufacturers have decided to go for a circular sphere design, also for what we can appreciate, the watch doesn’t count with any physical buttons which means that we’ll have to operate the device by using the tactile screen. Something that we need to mention is that this device counts with an IP67 certificate to maximize its durability.

We also have to point out that this watch is incredibly light, even for a smartwatch, it has a weight of 0.030 kg, and this is because of the materials used for the watch. The watch is not particularly big, which is really nice since this kind of devices tend to be a little uncomfortable when they’re too big or heavy.

Display:

We have a 0.66 inches OLED circular screen, a really discrete size for a smartwatch. Something that we don’t particularly love is the really low resolution (64 x 48 pixels); you might say that it’s a low-end device and that the low resolution is justified, but no, this is low even for low-range standards- We can say that this is the biggest flaw of this device.

Battery:

As for the battery, we have Li-polymer battery with a capacity of 120 mAh, this battery doesn’t take too much to get fully charged, just 2 hours; the best part is that its battery life can last for a whole month in standby. It’s kind of unusual to find a low-end device that has such a decent autonomy; the people in charge of this device really did an incredible job with it.

Features:

Don’t expect some super amazing functions here; we’re talking about a low-range smartwatch here, so we can pretty much hope for the regular smartwatch functions.

First of all, we have the health/sport related functions, this kind of functions are pretty much a must-have in any smartwatch. This group of features consists of the calorie tracker, a pedometer, and the trajectory record; this will help you out a lot when you’re done with an exercise session, allowing you to know how many calories were burnt in that session and, in case that you were using the treadmill, it will tell us the exact distance that we traveled.

It also features sleep monitor; this function will tell for how long we slept, really convenient to keep track of our sleeping time. We also have the alarm function that will take us out of our sleep through vibrations.

This smartwatch will let us know when we’re being called, and thanks to the caller ID, we can see the name of the person who’s calling us as long as we have them in our phonebook. It will also let us know when we have an SMS or any other kind of message on our phone.

The L58 is waterproof, so don’t be afraid of taking your watch with you for a swim.

We also have the remote camera function that allows us to take pictures with our linked smartphone using the smartwatch.

Something that we’d like to point out is that this device counts with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of internal storage; pretty much the standard for this price range.

Here we have a cheap and gorgeous device, it’s not that big of a deal if we talk about specifications, but when we talk about design then we can take the risk and say that this is the most attractive low-range device; many of the low-end smartwatches have designs that are not so good. Being fair with this product, we can say that it’s amazing for its price, the only thing we definitely don’t like is that resolution, that resolution has no excuse, but sadly, we can’t have it all.
