Snapping Screenshots With Your Xiaomi Handset

They say that a picture speaks a thousand words – if that is the case, then surely getting your message across to a friend or a group of contacts via an Instant Messaging (IM) app such as WhatsApp, Kakao, WeChat or even Facebook Messenger would work best in select situations with a single screenshot of your mobile device. After all, a single screenshot might be able to “tell” whatever details that you would like to convey without having to go through the tedium of typing them – such as your flight itinerary, or perhaps tour program.
Having said that, Xiaomi’s range of smartphones have begun to grow in popularity, and hence, the expanding user base would definitely need more tutorials and ideas on maximizing the use of their respective handsets. If you are a proud Xiaomi smartphone owner who have yet to figure out the ins and outs of capturing a screenshot on your Xiaomi device, you’re in luck as we go through the steps below. Do take note that these steps are compatible with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Mi3, Mi4, Redmi Note, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 4G, Mi Note Pro, Redmi Note 3 (Pro), Mi4i, Mi4c, Mi Pad 2 and the Mi5. If your Xiaomi device is not listed here, then the first method listed below should probably work just as well as it is more or less the universal method for Android devices.
There are basically two methods of capturing a screenshot on your Android-powered Xiaomi handset; using the hardware buttons, or via the Notification Menu.
Method 1: Hardware Buttons, I summon thee!
This particular method has been around since the Ice Age. I jest, but you get the idea – using hardware buttons to capture a screenshot on your Android device has been the staple method for so long across various manufacturers, it should be common knowledge by now. Unfortunately, like common sense, it is not so common after all. It is a no-brainer as all that you ned to do is to head on to the screen in which you would like to capture, and perform the following.
1. Figure out where the Power and Volume Down buttons are on your smartphone.
2. Press both buttons simultaneously until you hear a camera shutter sound (best to leave your smartphone’s sound settings on Normal in this case).
3. The screen should flicker to indicate that the operation was a success.
4. Head on to Gallery, and you should be able to check out the screenshot sitting there, all nice and pretty.
Method 2: Menu Option
If your fingers are unable to co-ordinate themselves properly by rebelling against your brain waves, then you might want to weigh the second method which will involve the Menu Option. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, and take note that this is strictly Xiaomi territory so don’t bother figuring it out if you are not using a Xiaomi device.
1. Head on to the screen that you would like to capture a screenshot.
2. Drag the notification bar from top to bottom, and look for Toggles.
3. Locate the screenshot icon.
4. Tap on the icon, and voila! The screenshot is captured.
It does not get any easier than either method, don’t you think so? Of course, if you still feel that these basic functions are not your cup of tea, as you prefer the route of using apps to get the job done, then there are plenty of options over on the Google Play Store, where among them include the likes of Screenshot Easy, Screenshot, Screenshot Capture, and OK Screenshot, just to name a few. Go ahead, knock yourself out.
