Design and Build quality:

What does Xinlin X118 Quadcopter look like? Well, it looks just like any quadcopter out there, more or less. It is white, it is made out of high-quality materials, and it is every kid’s dream. It has four rotors on four prongs, and there is a not-that-impressive camera with 0.3-Megapixel sensor beneath. Some interesting LEDs and inscriptions can be found on the Xinlin X118 Quadcopter itself. LEDs are changing their colors on the fly, and it looks very entertaining, especially at night.

Display:

Naturally, Xinlin X118 Quadcopter doesn’t feature a display, but there is one on a remote controller. It is a 5-Inch LCD with good viewing angles. The screen can be folded when you are not using the remote. Unfortunately, visibility in the bright lighting conditions is not very good.

Xinlin X118 Quadcopter Camera:

The device has a camera with the 0.3-Megapixel sensor so, from a quality point of view, it is not very good. The camera can be used to make videos and take pictures. It is controlled by the remote and it can record in all directions. From the remote you can start, stop recording as well as freeze it and take pictures. We haven’t tested it, but we believe that it is possible to connect a small action camera on the existing camera and therefore get amazing videos shot from a bird’s-eye perspective. The action camera has to be quite small and light because the drone is pretty light weighted itself.

Flying:

The flying is pretty straightforward once you learn the controls on the remote. There are three speeds on the Xinlin X118 Quadcopter, which can be excellent for beginners to learn the basics. In case that you are in a crowded space with several drones in the sky you can send a command for yours to return. All it takes is the press of the button which is outstanding. There is also a “Headless mode” that controls the drone independently to your position.
The backflip mode is self-explanatory, and it works quite well. The device has a range of 80, even 100 meters and it works splendidly in that range. It is a bit tricky to maneuver the Xinlin X118 Quadcopter in the windy conditions but in time you can get used to it. This device is built for flying, and that is where it excels. It is very amusing to play around with this drone, and it can be very addictive, in a good way, of course.

Connectivity:

Xinlin X118 Quadcopter operates on a 6 channel 2.4GHz connectivity bands. The antennas on the remote are 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz so that signal can never be interrupted.

Xinlin X118 Quadcopter Battery life:

The drone has an 850mAh lithium-polymer battery built in while the remote uses six 1.5V AA batteries and you have to buy them separately. Battery life is a bit disappointing because you can play/fly with the device around five or six minutes. After it, you have to charge the device around 150 minutes which is way too long. You can achieve slightly better results if you turn the camera and LED lights off. The only good thing is that you can purchase extra batteries online and change them when they deplete from flying.

Our opinion:

Xinlin X118 Quadcopter is first and foremost a great toy. When you comprehend that, you will forget all about camera quality or short battery life and enjoy playing with the device. For a small amount of money, you can feed that inner child and be happy.
