Wltoys A979 Review

Who didn’t play with one of these when they were little? If you didn’t, stop reading, go play with one and then come back. Playing with this kind of toys was the most fun thing ever; we’re aware that we’re getting a little nostalgic over here, but we’re not here to talk about the good old days, today we’re here to present you the Wltoys A979, a remote controlled truck that can reach ungodly speeds thanks to its high-quality motor.

Performance:

As we said before, this tough guy has an amazing motor allowing it to reach a speed of 50 km/h, yes, you read that right. We’re talking about 50 km/h that’s the speed of a regular car; it’s more than obvious that we stand before a high-quality product, not every truck can reach that speed and let’s not forget we’re still talking about a toy.

This tough guy will provide us with a maximum of 10 minutes of racing which is pretty much standard for this kind of toys, and with that power, we’re surprised it’s 10 minutes and not less. It takes about 150 minutes to get fully charged.

As for its performance on the track, this bad boy can be played with at ground, grassland, and sand land. It also has an independent shockproof system to effectively prevent any vibration damage.

Also, it has high-quality rubber wheels to prevent any kind of issue when dealing with a slippery surface.

This is indeed a tough toy since it counts with a PCV shell and also an independent suspension frame system that effectively reduces the friction caused by the vibration.

Controller:

We have a controller with a nice ergonomic design that works with a frequency of 2.4G. We can operate the truck with this from a distance of more than 100 m. It’s also important to say that it works with a 4 x 1.5V AA battery which is not included.

Its design is well looked, something not so common in this kind of RC trucks, in which rusty controls is the tendency.

Wheels:

Its wheels are made for all-terrain. You can drive this little monster through sand, mud, grounds and grass. It’s made to last and making you feel like you are driving a real monster which can not be quiet inside your home. It needs feels the terrain and show its power!

Each wheel has 71mm of diameter, which gives a very good stability if the terrain is very irregular, which can happen in lands in which we want to drive our RC cars and trucks.

It also counts with shock absorbers which improve better the absorbing impacts from bumped and chaotic roads.

Battery:

The battery of this incredible A979 has 1100 mAh of lasting, which means that you can use it for very long time with no get worried about charge it, but surely you should charge it eventually. It’s relation price/battery quality it’s very good considering its top speed and its acceleration capacity.

Is It Worth It?

We’re not talking about your regular everyday remote controlled truck, this thing is a beast, there’s no other word to describe it. It can reach a maximum speed of 50 km/h, it performs amazingly on mostly every kind of environment, it can take quite a couple of hits thanks to its shell. It’s just amazing how much effort was put into this toy.
