Oukitel K4000 Lite (Preview)

Not so long ago, Oukitel released a smartphone called Oukitel K4000, this smartphone was well received by the users but Oukitel decided to launch a lighter version of this device, they decided to name it Oukitel K4000 Lite, not a particularly original name, but trust us, the name has nothing to do with what this bad boy can do.

Now, you might be thinking: “But why would they launch a lighter version?” Well, that’s simple, Oukitel is clearly looking for a more affordable and competitive price, considering that the K4000 already had a low price, then we can speculate that this terminal will have a rather lower price.
For Oukitel, it’s not weird to launch terminals with mid-range specifications for low-end prices, this is pretty much something proper of the company. And it’s not like they’re selling flawed devices or anything, the quality of their devices can clearly be seen just by holding one of its products. So we can’t expect something different regarding this smartphone, what we really can expect is that this device is as good as its original version.
Now then, since this device hasn’t been released yet, there’s not a whole ton of information yet, but that’s going to stop us? No, we’re here to provide the information for you, the curious user, and no matter what, you’ll get that info, so keep reading to find out what this device has for itself.

Features:

There’s not too much we can talk about here, but we do have some nice things to say about it.
First of all, we have to point out that this version comes with an updated interface that promises a wide variety of filters and will provide a tool for better app classification; this is really convenient since it’s a real pain to not be able to find an app. It also allows you to have up 8 hot keys (or as they call it, family number) so that you can easily call anyone.
This lighter version also promises a bigger screen for dialing, it’s good to know someone out there worries about the people with big fingers, but no really, if you have slightly big fingers, dialing in some screen can be a real torture and sometimes it can lead you to dial the wrong number.
Something that we really love about the K4000 Lite is the incorporation of a gesture control feature. This feature will allow us to access functions directly just by drawing letters on our phone’s screen. For example, draw an “M” to play songs, draw a horizontal line to switch songs, drawn an “e” to open the browser, etc.
Now, last but not least, the people in charge of this device promised that it will come with a total of 18 customizable programs.

Design:

There’s not really a ton of information out there about the design, all we can do is hope that it’s similar to the original model and by looking at the images from Oukitel it’s going to be exactly that. Now then, taking the images as an example, we can see that the design is nothing out of the world; it’s actually really simple yet classy.
If it’s something like the K4000 then we can expect a couple of things, first of all, we can expect that this device is made completely out of polycarbonate (plastic) that will justify a really low price which is exactly what Oukitel is looking for in their terminal. We also hope that includes that small metal frame that the K4000 had, it will be amazing to have that premium look even on a lighter version.
The button and ports distribution is guaranteed to be the same. On top of the terminal we have a minijack 3,5 mm port, on the lower area we find the Micro-USB and if we take a look at the rear we can also see the microphone. As for the buttons, we have the block/unlock and volume buttons on the right lateral. The left side is completely lonely.

Display:

For the size of the screen we have exactly the same, a 5 inches IPS screen, but here comes the difference between both terminals, it’s the resolution, the K4000 has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while the K4000 Lite has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The K4000 had an HD-TV resolution and the Lite Version has a QHD resolution.
This is a downgrade yes, there’s no denying that, but there’s something we have to think of, why did they do it? You see, by having a lower resolution that means that you don’t consume as much battery, that’s what the manufacturers are looking for, to have a lighter device that has a longer battery life. And taking into consideration that Oukitel tends to give their devices a really generous battery, then we can expect this terminal’s battery life to last for a really long time without any worries.
Also, something we have to point out is that the screen of the previous model of this smartphone is pretty much a tank; you could use to hit nails into something and it wouldn’t receive damage (Please refrain yourself from doing that). This is because this bad boy counts with up to 9H hardness and more than 800 Mpa stress value. We really hope this model comes with that feature as well.

CPU:

The system on a chip embedded in this terminal is the MT6735 from MeidaTek that features a 64-bit quad-core processor running at 1.3 GHz of clock frequency and is based on the Cortex-A53 architecture. The processor is also designed around the “Reduced Instruction set computing” which allows instructions to execute really fast. This CPU is commonly featured in mid-end devices and doesn’t fail to deliver a high-quality experience on the mobile market.
The performance for this CPU is really outstanding within its range, is very efficient for multitasking and its high performance can rival with the Cortex-A9 series, is also worth mentioning that is a power-efficient processor designed to get the best out of the device in which is embedded.  When it comes to the OUKITEL K4000 Lite is necessary to keep in mind that this aspect hasn’t been changed in comparison with the original, therefore, the overall performance should be the same, capable of achieving a great and smooth performance suitable for multitasking and running your everyday apps.

Graphics processing unit:

When it comes to GPU the MT6735 SoC is often shipped with some Mali GPU, on this case the ARM® Mali™-T720 MP3 GPU running at 600 MHz, a decent mid-range GPU based on the Midgard architecture, this GPU is distinguished by its cost and energy efficiency and also wide API Support, featuring OpenGL 3.1, OpenCL™ 1.1 and DirectX 11. This GPU by itself is capable of decoding and encoding videos up to 1080P at 30 Frames per second, but taking a look at what we said before this graphic unit is capped by the 960 x 540 pixels  resolution that the Oukitel K4000 light has.
Its aim is to deliver quality visuals and a beautiful image, alongside high-performance while browsing the interface, watching videos and gaming. With previous experience from its predecessor is safe to expect that most Android games will play at acceptable frame rates on medium resolutions and quality with little to zero frame drops. Demanding games such as Need for speed: most wanted, Asphalt 8 and NOVA 3 have been tested in the previous model and the OUKITEL K4000 has delivered high FPS at medium to high settings without significant stuttering or lag, and this should be as well the case for the light version since the core components haven’t been downgraded at all.

Memory and storage:

The memory for the OUKITEL K4000 Light is good for the range, featuring 2 GB of memory Ram which is suitable for multitasking and running the most demanding apps, however, 2GB is nowadays considered standard and this should be the minimum amount very soon. When it comes to storage this smartphone has a built-in memory ROM that is 16 GB large, which is rather standard in mid-end devices such as this, although keep in mind that a substantial portion is occupied by system data, but the available memory left should be enough to offer you a basic storage capacity that can be expanded up to 32 GB through an SD-card, for which a slot is available.

OS and Software:

The OUKITEL K4000 will run on Android version 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, which means that users will receive all the benefits and features they love about Android, from the easy to use interface to the thousands of apps that can be downloaded from the Google play store and much more. Also, as we mentioned before there will be minor new changes to the user interface like the simpler sorting of apps and the 8 hotkeys for the chosen phone numbers, which are features that inherits from the original version of the smartphone.

Connectivity:

The OUKITELL K4000 lite will feature the standard wireless connectivity, From Bluetooth in its 4.0 version to Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. Also, USB OTG (On the go) is fully supported, this allows for instance to plug a memory USB unit to the smartphone and access the files within it.
When it comes to networks the features of the K4000 remains intact, supporting Dual Micro SIM cards with the dual standby option, offering the latest 4G LTE connectivity, 3G and 2G as well. A list with the supported band frequencies can be found in the list below:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz
Also, the service should be unlocked for worldwide use like the original version.

Camera:

The OUKITELL K4000 Lite will feature two cameras alike its predecessor, a rear 13.0 MP camera with led flash and a frontal 5.0 MP cam perfect for selfies, both from SONY and with anti-shake features. The overall quality of the cams is good for the price range, especially when you consider that the main one can record videos up to 720P/30FPS.

Battery:

We can’t talk about an Oukitel smartphone without giving the battery its own section; it’s like missing a highlight. The devices that Oukitel makes are bound to have a great autonomy; we’ve already seen examples such as the Oukitel K6000 that counts with a battery of 6000 mAh. Oukitel really worries about the autonomy; they know the pain that is to be out on the street or anywhere else and running out of battery, you’re pretty much disconnected from the world, they know that in case of an emergency you need to have battery, or sometimes not in an emergency, sometimes we just want to lay down and use our phone for a while, but we can’t do that if we have the battery capacity of a potato.
Now that we’ve talked about how Oukitel is really the king of autonomy, we have to talk about the K4000 lite, as its name indicates this terminal counts with 4000 mAh, a really generous battery that can easily provide 48 hours with constant use.
If you don’t know anything about mAh or how to know if a battery is good or not, then let us say that a smartphone with an above average capacity has 3000 mAh. With that, you can make comparisons with this device and see for yourself that the autonomy this terminal has is indeed gigantic.
Final Thoughts
Well, this particular terminal is really not that different from its original version, it has some downgrades as we’ve already mentioned, but it’s not like it’s the end of the world, the terminal is really good for a mid-range and if the price is lower than the K4000 then it’s definitely going to be a bargain.
We can only hope that it’s similar to the K4000, considering how much of a nice phone it was, but well, only time will tell what will happen with this smartphone, but as far as we can see, it’s going to be amazing.
